Scars are an inevitable result from surgery. Scars are permanent in nature. Some scars are better than others. Some people tend to make better scars than others genetically. Some surgeons make better scars than others. Scars put in places on the body that follow natural lines and creases are better concealed than those out in the open.
It’s important for patients to understand that your surgeon cannot make a permanent scar “go way”. It may be possible to improve a scar so it is less noticeable and more easily concealed. It’s also possible to make a scar worse after an attempt at a scar revision.
